Susan Eckles

Welcome

Hello! My name is Susan Eckles. I have lived in Washington Court House my entire life.  I have been married to my husband Keith for 34 years and I have three sons. Kaleb, 26 yrs. old,  Conner, 24 yrs. old, and Cameron who is 21 years and is a senior at The Ohio State University.  I graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of science in nursing.  After practicing nursing for about 9 years, I was a stay-at-home for the next 8 years.  When my youngest son turned five, I went on to receive my master's in educational leadership (early childhood) from Antioch McGregor in Yellowsprings, Ohio.

This is my 15th year teaching in the Washington City School District.  I taught kindergarten for 14 years and this year (2019-2020) I have a new role at Cherry Hill Primary.  I am one of four literacy teachers in the building and I absolutely love it.  I work with two kindergarten teachers, two first grade teachers, and two second grade teachers.  I offer support to the teachers and students in reading instruction.

I am a huge Ohio State fan, I love to watch college basketball and spend time with my family, waterski, make spoon necklaces, and make crafts.

If you need to contact me for any reason please feel free to reach out by email at [email protected] or call Cherry Hill (740-335-3370) and ask for me there. Thanks.

March 2020 - As you all know, our schools are currently closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.  We are missing our students terribly and I know this is a stressful situation for everyone, especially for you as parents.  The literacy team is here to support the teachers during this difficult time.  What I would encourage you to do as a parent is to stay on some type of schedule and have your child do a little bit everyday.  They should be doing reading and math everyday.  If you are able to access the program "Lexia" at home, I would encourage you to help your child to work through some of the activities.  They can earn certificates and it is a great learning tool while we are distance learning.  I am praying for you and your families and I know that we all will be stronger and better after this is over.  Stay safe and healthy.  Please reach out to your child's teacher for help during this time.  We want the kids to continue to be engaged and learning.  Take care!
