Hello! My name is Tessa Distel. I am originally from West Portsmouth, Ohio and graduated from Portsmouth West High School in 1998. I went to Ohio University, receiving my bachelor's degree in Integrated Mathematics in 2002. I then went onto Ohio University again and received my master's degree in Educational Leadership in 2010. I have two children that grew up in the Washington City School District. My daughter is a 2021 graduate of Washington High School and is a freshman at Shawnee State University majoring in Exercise Science and my son is currently in 11th grade at Washington High School.
I am now starting my 20th year of teaching at Washington High School, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I currently teach General Math, Algebra 2 and Probability/Statistics. The best part of being a math teacher is seeing the kids enjoy learning and applying math concepts.
I am a huge sports fanatic, and enjoy just about any sport. Basketball and softball are my two favorite sports. My daughter keeps me busy as she is on the Shawnee State tennis and bowling teams. My son keeps me busy as he is part of the Blue Lion Marching Band, Varsity Football, and Blue Lion Baseball. I am a strong supporter for anything that is Washington Court House. I enjoy seeing both my children and my students participate in extracurricular activities. I am an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and everything Ohio State related.
If you ever have an issue that needs brought to my attention, feel free to email me at [email protected] or call the high school main office (740-636-4221) and ask for me there. Thanks!
